julieJulie McGivery
Physiotherapist / Owner

A physiotherapy graduate from Dalhousie University, Julie is a highly-regarded physiotherapist in the community and in Atlantic Canada. Julie is the founder of Advanced Health & Physiotherapy & has a passion for helping people understand and overcome their injuries. With a commitment to life-long learning, Julie continues to advance her knowledge and skills through participation in numerous postgraduate courses in advanced orthopaedic assessment and treatments. Julie completed her Clinical Masters’ in Advanced Orthopaedics & Manual Therapy at Western University in 2013. Her on-field sports experience includes working as the team therapist for the Moncton Mustangs’ Junior & Senior Football programs, Bernice MacNaughton Basketball & Football Programs and many local/national/ international sporting events such as 2010 World Junior Track & Field. Julie’s passions are not limited to physiotherapy. She can often be found training for triathlons, marathons, skiing, & yoga. Julie has also completed the 2013 IRONMAN at Mont-Tremblant, Que.

Candice Bannister

Candice joined the team at Advanced Health and Physiotherapy in October 2016 after seven years of experience working as an orthopedic physiotherapist. Candice completed her Bachelor of Science, Kinesiology degree from the University of New Brunswick in 2006 and her Masters in Physiotherapy in 2008 from McMaster University. Most recently she completed her MCISc Physical Therapy (Manip) at Western University in July 2017 which has allowed her to become a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Manipulative Physiotherapy (FCAMPT). CAMPT-Certified physiotherapists have completed extensive post-graduate education and have attained internationally recognized qualifications in hands-on manipulative therapy. Treatment is guided by current research which helps speed patient recovery while combining education about the condition to reduce the risk of relapse.

Candice has also completed many other post-graduate courses including running injury prevention, soft tissue release, exercise prescription and she is certified in acupuncture through the Acupuncture Foundation of Canada. With a focus on health promotion, holistic care and evidence informed medicine she enjoys working with a wide range of clients from children to elderly and from recreational to competitive athletes to help them return to the activities they love. She has volunteered at various sporting events from local tournaments to international levels of competition (IIAF World Junior Track and Field Championships and Canadian National Figure Skating Championships).

In her spare time, Candice enjoys running, hiking and is a competitive Ultimate Frisbee player participating in National and International competitions.

Jordan Gillis

Jordan graduated from the University of New Brunswick with a degree in Kinesiology in 2012, and immediately attended Dalhousie University and obtained his Masters of Science in PhysiotherapyJordan in 2014. Since graduating he has had experience in both the hospital and private practice settings. He has completed the Advanced Physical Therapy Education Institute’s Lumbo-Pelvic Complex certification program, and taken other professional courses in acupuncture and manual therapy. Jordan is currently volunteering with the Harrison Trimble High School basketball program. The Moncton-native is also a member of the CPA’s Orthopaedic Division and on the executive for the New Brunswick Orthopaedic Division. His interests outside of physiotherapy include music, drums, playing basketball and squash, and drag racing.

Heather Wasson

Heather graduated from Crandall University in 2015 with a Bachelor of Science with Honours in Biology. She obtained her Masters of Science in Physiotherapy from Dalhousie University in 2018. 

She has been part of the Advanced Health & Physiotherapy team in a variety of roles since 2011 and is excited to be now joining the team as a physiotherapist. 

Heather is from Moncton and has been an active volunteer in the area. She has volunteered with the FIFA Women’s World Cup Canada 2015 and FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup Canada 2014. 

Outside of physiotherapy you can find Heather riding her motorcycle, at the gym, coaching or playing soccer and basketball.

Massage Therapists

Alysha Trenholm
Massage Therapist

Alysha Trenholm graduated from University of New Brunswick with a degree in kinesiology in 2014. She continued to further her education at Eastern College in a 2200 hour Massage Therapy diploma alyshaprogram where she graduated with honours in May 2016. Alongside her diploma, Alysha completed a certification in Cupping Therapy.

She is dedicated to providing the best possible therapeutic treatments for her clients, helping them achieve their goals, and improving their overall health and well being.

Alysha has a keen interest in the sport and exercise industry and takes pride in working with athletes and being part of the rehabilitation team.

Samantha Harquail-Godin
Massage Therapist

Born in Montreal but raised in New Brunswick, Sam has been living in Moncton for the past six years. She studied massage therapy at Atlantic College of Therapeutic Massage in Dieppe. Sam has been practicing massage in North-end Moncton for two years. She has passion for helping and treating others. In her spare time, Sam enjoys spending time with her son and playing a variety of sports.

Occupational Therapist

Adam Burke
Occupational Therapist – Certified Hand Therapist

Adam graduated from Mount Allison in 2004 with a Bachelor of Science and in 2006  from McMaster with a Masters of Science in Occupational Therapy. Upon graduation, he was employed for 4 years by the Moncton Hospital in a variety of roles including: family practice, geriatric medicine, surgical and intensive care and out-patient hand therapy working primarily with post-surgical hand conditions. In 2009, Adam entered into private practice as a consultant with CBI Health P.C. providing hand rehabilitation services.  In 2010, Adam opened Progressive Occupational Therapy & Hand Rehabilitation, operating in affiliation with Advanced Health & Physiotherapy. In 2011, Adam obtained his certification in hand therapy (CHT) from the Hand Therapy Certification Commission. He specializes in the treatment of upper extremity injuries, ergonomic assessment, post-operative hand stiffness, wrist instabilities & custom splinting.

Suzanne Myers
Occupational Therapist

Suzanne graduated from Cape Breton University in 2012 with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and in 2017 from The University of Western Ontario with a Master of Science in Occupational Therapy. She started working at Progressive Occupational Therapy and Hand Rehabilitation in January of 2018.

She is registered with the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists and the New Brunswick Association of Occupational Therapists and is registered as a Clinical Care Manager with Veterans Affairs Canada.

She has been trained as a Progressive Goal Attainment Program (PGAP) provider, a Mental Health First Aid Provider and has completed courses in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy. She is committed to maintaining a client-centered approach while utilizing these skills to assist clients who are experiencing disability associated with physical or mental health conditions in achieving their goals with regard to returning to meaningful occupations and life roles, including work.

Some of the services that she is able to provide include working with employers and insurance companies to facilitate return-to-work, assisting clients with mental health challenges develop or re-develop daily functioning and coping skills, assisting clients with community integration, recommending adaptive equipment, and completing ergonomic evaluations.

Suzanne has a special interest in working with people who are experiencing mental health challenges and has had experience working predominantly with adults in this field. She also has clinical education experience working in community, hospital and rehabilitation settings.

In her spare time, she enjoys running, reading, travelling, and doing yoga.

Jennifer McLennon
Office Manager

Jennifer joined the Advanced Health team in February 2015, and has been an absolute positive addition to our already amazing team. She has a sunshine personality and  the skills  in managing and customer service.

Jennifer is the smiling face that keeps the office running smoothly and can help you with all questions related to scheduling, billing, and other administrative-related questions.

Becca Dunstan
Physiotherapy Assistant/Assistant Manager

Becca graduated from NSCC in 2011 with a diploma in Physiotherapy/Occupational Therapy Assistant. Becca became a member of the Advanced Health & Physiotherapy team in November 2011 and has since become a vital part of our amazing clinic. Being a life-long learner, Becca has furthered her skills and is now Kinesio I & Kinesio II certified as well as a certified Sport First-Responder. She has volunteered with Volleyball New Brunswick and with high school football and basketball events. Recently, Becca was one of the many faces participating in the Legs for Literacy Marathon along side fellow clinic members.

Kimberly Dixon
Administrative Assistant

Kimberly graduated from the Medical Office Administration program at Oulton College in 2016. She has always had a passion for sports and being active. She enjoys hiking, kayaking and being outside. Kimberly is one of the newest additions to the clinic and you will always see her smiling as you walk through the door.

Courtney Parker
Physiotherapy Assistant

Courtney became a member of the Advanced Health and Physiotherapy team in May 2017 after graduating from NSCC with a Physiotherapy/Occupational Therapy Assistant diploma.

Born and raised in Nova Scotia, Courtney received a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from St. Mary’s University in 2013, before discovering her passion for rehabilitation and deciding to continue her education. She is eager to help others and to expand her skill set along the way.

Courtney enjoys spending her free time with friends and family, either outdoors hiking and camping, or at home watching movies and playing board games.
