Cupping is an ancient Chinese medicine technique. Cupping uses a vacuum-like negative pressure to draw the skin up into the cup and separate the layers of fascia. The vacuum effect draws new circulation to the area to lubricate the layers between the fascia and allow more flexibility of the tissues.
Cupping technique may be beneficial for numerous conditions including but not limited to:
- Increasing range of motion or movement
- Improving circulation
- Improve mobility of superficial or subdermal scar tissue
- Assist in the release of adhesions in the muscles or fascial layers
This technique can be completed by one of our Registered Massage Therapists and/or Physiotherapists and is often combined with other forms of treatments and home activity to maintain the gain achieved.
